Syrena is a mermaid featured in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. She is portrayed by actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey.

Unlike the monstrous mermaids initially encountered by the pirates, Syrena possesses a greater degree of humanity and intelligence. She is captured along with others of her kind to harvest their tears, a crucial ingredient for the Fountain of Youth ritual.

During her captivity, Syrena develops a bond with Philip Swift, a captured missionary. Their relationship is marked by initial distrust and fear, gradually evolving into a deeper connection fueled by mutual respect and understanding.

Syrena's tears are ultimately crucial to the Fountain of Youth's activation, and she chooses to bestow one upon Philip, saving his life. She displays great loyalty by refusing to betray her species, even when faced with torture.

At the film's conclusion, she rescues Philip and disappears with him into the depths of the ocean, leaving their future uncertain but hinting at a possible continuation of their unique relationship.
